Barrydale to Stilbaai

Day 1: Barrydale to Ladismith through Huisriverpass to Calitzdorp, then Van Wyksdorp through Riversdale to Stilbaai. +/- 300km. Approximately 4.30 hours

Day 2: Stilbaai to Heidelberg along the Breede River. Very tricky dirt road with lots of twists and turns. Lunch at “Delish” in Heidelberg, then return to Barrydale through the Tradouw Pass.

  • BARRYDALE

    Often referred to as the gateway to heaven, Barrydale is situated on the world famous Route 62. This quaint village is a mere two-and-a-half hour drive from Cape Town International Airport and, quite uniquely, boasts the features associated with the nearby wine district while also providing guests with the tranquility that can only be found in the Karoo.

  • HUISRIVIER PASS

    This pass is unique in that its geology is unusually unstable and several pioneering engineering techniques had to be applied to successfully build a safe all-weather pass.

  • STILBAAI

    Stilbaai lies on Goukou River and has a magnificent estuary and safe and beautiful beaches on either side of the river mouth. Lappiesbaai beach has recently been awarded Blue Flag status and is the only beach to claim this mark of distinction between Hermanus and Jeffreys Bay.

  • HEIDELBERG

    Set between mountains and with the source of the Duibenhoks River lying in the mountains close to the town, Heidelberg is a rustic old town known to attract eco-tourist because the well-preserved examples of fynbos, forests and streams in the area. It is also a very well known for its bird watching spots.
